Fourth Graders will be learning to play the violin during November and December. We will "earn" our bows by learning to play pizzicato (plucking the strings) to the tune of "Hot Cross Buns."
While we learn to use our bows to get a good tone from our violins and to play rhythms correctly, we will also learn how to read the notes we need on the music staff. The open strings are G,D, A, and E. When we place our left hand fingers on the fingerboard at just the right places, we shorten each string to play notes that are higher than the open string sound.
Before the violin cart has to go to another school at the end of December, we will work to learn "Monkey Song" and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" and perhaps other songs, too!
