For the next few months, fifth graders will spend a lot of time learning to read music!
They will be able to name and draw treble and bass clef notes. And they will be able to read and draw notes and rests and count the number of beats each one is worth.

Fifth Graders will also play the violin during November and December.
While we practice how to use our bows to get a good tone from our violins and to play rhythms correctly, we will also know how to read the notes we need on the music staff.
The open strings are G,D, A, and E. When we place our left hand fingers on the fingerboard at just the right places, we shorten each string to play notes that are higher than the open string sound.
Last year we learned "Monkey Song" and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." We will review those songs and learn other songs, too!
